Town of Conewango Building Permit Rates

General Information

 

No permit shall be required for a construction or installation of a one-story, detached structures associated with one- or two-family dwellings or multiple single-family dwellings which are used for tool storage, playhouses or similar uses, provided that the gross floor area does not exceed 144 sg. ft. of the original permit fee will be charged to renew permit. Any construction started before a building permit is issued, a penalty of double the original permit fee will be added to the cost, plus any legal fees.

· If construction is not started within 1 year of the original permit date, 50% of the original permit fee will be charged to renew permit.

· Fee for Change of Occupancy is subject to the rate of the new occupancy classification. It's the responsibility of the property owner to notify the code officer of any change in occupancy within 30 days of the change. Failure to do so may result in a fine.

Minimum Charge for construction over 144 sq. feet ...............................................$50.00

New residential single-family dwelling .........................................................0.15 per sq.ft

for total first & second floor living space

Mobile & manufactured single family dwelling .......................................$ 0.15 per sq. ft.

Additions & Alterations.....................................................................$ 0.15 per sq. ft.

Solar Permit / Battery Storage 25 Kw or less

Residential………………………..$10.00 per panel

Commercial Solar / Battery Storage .Per Local Law 2-2025….$1500.00 per Mega Watt

Generators……..Residential $50 / Commercial $100.00

Tele Communication Towers…………….$300.00

Tele Communication Tower Repairs………$150.00

Fire Inspection 1st time…………..$25.00….Re-inspection $10.00

* Plus $20 for each plumbing unit (kitchen/ bathroom)

Miscellaneous buildings & pavilions ............................................................$0.08 per sq. ft.

Commercial.........................................................................$0.18 per sq. ft. total floor space

* Agricultural buildings ........No permits needed; however, the owner must contact the Town Assessor to receive an Agricultural Exemption.

* Agricultural building is defined as solely used in raising of animals, growing or storage of agricultural or horticultural products by a farmer engaged in a farming operation.
